- 2 mixing bowls
- 1 electric mixer
- 2 baking sheets lined with parchment paper
- 1 tablespoon for scooping
Ingredients
- 14 ounces sweetened shredded coconut
- 10 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2/3 teaspoong Crisco shortening
- 2/3 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
- Combine the coconut, condensed milk, and vanilla in a large bowl
- Whip the egg whites and salt on high speed in the bowl of an electric mixer
- Carefully fold the egg whites into the coconut mixture
- Drop the batter onto sheet pans lined with parchment paper using a tablespoon or other dough scooper
- Bake for 30 minutes, until golden brown
- To add chocolate drizzle; combine 2/3 cup of chocolate chips and 2/3 teaspoon of Crisco shortening in a bowl
- Microwave the chocolate chips and shortening and mix them together
- Pour the chocolate over cooled macaroons
