  • 1 large skillet cast-iron, ideally
  • 1 strainer
  • 1 pan
  • 1 tortilla warmer
  • 1 rice cooker optional

Ingredients

Taco seasoning

  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp ground paprika
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano

Tacos

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • shredded cheddar cheese to taste
  • 1/2 white onion finely diced
  • tortillas
  • 1 sliced avocado optional
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • other toppings as desired

Instructions

  • (Optional) Prepare the taco seasoning by mixing all the spices together in a small bowl
  • Prepare your toppings; dice the onions, slice the avocados, cook the rice, etc.
  • Heat up the large skillet on the stovetop on high heat, until it begins smoking
  • Brown the ground beef fully, stirring frequently for approximately 2 minutes
  • Remove the skillet with the beef and drain the fat through a strainer. Return the ground beef to the skillet
  • Partially fill the skillet with cold tap water
  • Pour the prepared taco seasoning into the skillet and mix thoroughly
  • Return the skillet to the stove at medium heat. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened
  • While the beef simmers, heat up the other pan on medium heat. Once it is smoking, toast tortillas on both sides, approximately 20 seconds per side. Place warmed tortillas in the tortilla warmer until ready to serve
  • Assemble your tacos!
